    Residential Epoxy Floors

Bored with your floors and ready for a remodel? Spruce up the look and feel of a room, or two, in your home with an epoxy floor installation. These floors are a beautiful addition to interior and exterior spaces of the house. But aesthetics is not where it ends when it comes to the benefits they offer. There are myriad reasons you should get an epoxy floor installation done, including:

    Durability

Epoxy floors are extremely durable, with a lifespan of 20+ years when professionally installed. The epoxy resin is made from chemical compounds which make the floors resilient and capable of withstanding high foot traffic and other abuse over time without any damage to its surface.

    Simple Maintenance

These floors are easy to clean and maintain. Thanks to its waterproof and dust proof properties, all you need is some water, soap and a mop or sponge to wipe away any spills and dirt. With a seamless epoxy floor, you do not have to clean the grout in between tiles where dirt and even bacteria tend to accumulate.

    Quick Installation

Installation typically takes a few days, which means you won’t be inconvenienced in your home for too long. You can get back to your usual daily activities in no time.

    Cost

Compared to other floor alternatives, you will find, on average, that epoxy floors are relatively affordable to install.

    What Exactly are Epoxy Floors?

An epoxy floor is a flooring system that comprises multiple layers of a synthetic resin mixed with a hardening chemical. This mixture is applied on to a substrate – typically concrete – and cures to produce an extremely solid, leveled and durable surface.

Although there are different types of epoxy resins (like solvent-based and water-based), Timeless Epoxy Systems uses 100% solids epoxy resin – the toughest in the industry – which delivers the best results in terms of durability and service life.

    The Installation Process

To give you an idea of what an epoxy floor installation entails and what to expect from the professional team at Timeless Epoxy Systems, let’s take a brief look at the process, from start to finish.

Keep in mind that the process varies depending on your needs and the style of flooring. For instance, extra layers of epoxy may be applied in commercial and industrial sites where thickness and durability is of paramount importance; or for flake epoxy floors, flakes are broadcast on to the epoxy coating.

    Free Consultation and Site Assessment

First, we set up an appointment to assess the installation site. This gives us a better sense of the amount of preliminary work needed before we start.

Why on-site appointment? Inspect concrete, perform a moisture test of the concrete to determine if a moisture vapor barrier coat is required, verify dimensions.

Following this, our design experts will discuss the wide variety of colors, textures and patterns available and guide you in selecting a design that works best for you.

    Concrete Preparation

The concrete is cleaned and prepared using a cutting-edge diamond grinder. This preps the floor, to ensure that the epoxy, when applied, adheres correctly for a strong, secure bond. Any concrete dust residue is vacuumed up using an industrial-grade vacuum.

    Epoxy Primer Coat Application (optional)

Once we’ve prepared the concrete, the epoxy primer coat is then applied. This epoxy layer will seal the substrate, ensuring a secure grip between the resin and the concrete substrate.

    Intermediate Coating

Another layer of epoxy is applied that forms the main coating of the floor. This layer comprises the color, texture and pattern you selected during consultation. Vinyl chips/flakes are broadcast into this coat.

    Top Coat/Sealant Application

To protect the floor from scratching and fading, the epoxy floor is then coated with a clear sealant. This glossy clear top coat is chemical and UV resistant, and super easy to clean and maintain. Material type is called Polyaspartic

Ready to Install a High-Quality Epoxy Floor?

While you might be tempted to undertake this installation as a DIY project, we strongly recommend hiring professionals if you want it done right and on time. If the substrate is not properly prepared, or the epoxy is not applied correctly, bubbling or peeling may occur. The last thing you want is to repair or reinstall the floor, which can be costly and time-consuming.

Here at Timeless Epoxy Systems, our team of experts adhere to the strictest installation standards (industry standards ASTM D4258, 4259) and use only high-grade materials – not the cheap, lower-grade epoxy found in your local home improvement store – to ensure a high-quality epoxy floor installation that will last for years to come.

We have been in business for over 5 years, servicing Sacramento, Folsom, Roseville, Rocklin, Granite Bay, El Dorado Hills and more. Our experts are committed to making sure our clients are 100% satisfied with the final product, and we offer very competitive prices, without ever compromising on quality. Give us a call today.
